In the face of growing global challenges, individuals and organizations around the world continue to lead efforts that inspire meaningful change. To honor these efforts, the UN SDG Action Campaign has announced the extension of the application deadline for the 2025 UN SDG Action Awards. Applicants and nominees now have until 25 May 2025, 23:59 EST to submit their entries.
Under the theme “Heroes of Tomorrow,” the 2025 Awards recognize the visionaries and changemakers who are actively building more just, inclusive, and sustainable societies. These awards celebrate those who are not waiting for change but creating it—through innovation, creativity, resilience, and impactful community action.
2025 Award Categories
The UN SDG Action Awards spotlight achievements across three key categories:
Resilience Award
Recognizes initiatives that have transformed adversity into opportunity, demonstrating innovation, perseverance, and significant impact amid environmental, political, economic, or social challenges. Previous winners include Gjenge Makers and Plant for the Planet.Creativity Award
Celebrates campaigns and projects that have used creative expression—whether through art, music, theatre, film, or digital media—to shift public mindsets, influence policies, and drive action for a more equitable and peaceful future. Last year’s honoree was Assume That I Can.Changemaker Award
Honors individuals who are driving lasting change in their communities, whether leading social movements or working behind the scenes to advance justice, equality, and human rights. Notable past recipient includes Suvarna Raj.
Individuals, groups, and organizations working to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are encouraged to apply or nominate others whose efforts deserve global recognition.
