Finland has announced the opening of nominations for the 2025 International Gender Equality Prize, set to be awarded for the fifth time at a ceremony in Tampere at the end of the year. With a prize value of €300,000, the award recognizes a person or organization that has made a significant global impact in advancing gender equality.
Launched by the Finnish Government in 2017, the International Gender Equality Prize celebrates achievements that help create more equal societies. Past winners have included prominent advocates and institutions whose work has empowered women, challenged inequality, and advanced inclusive policy worldwide.
The 2025 prize continues this important tradition, spotlighting those making meaningful strides in gender equity. The recipient does not keep the prize money for personal use but instead directs it toward a cause that promotes gender equality. This model ensures the award not only honors success but also furthers the mission of positive, lasting change.
Nominations are open until 1 June 2025, and proposals can be submitted via the official nomination platform. Anyone—whether an individual, organization, or institution—can nominate a deserving candidate.

This is a unique opportunity to recognize and elevate the efforts of those who are driving gender equality on a global scale.
