Empowering Primary Education: Meet the New Leadership of the Working Group

NEP is excited to announce the newly appointed Executive Committee (ExCom) of the Working Group on Primary Education. This dynamic team will play a pivotal role in strengthening the primary education sector in Cambodia, with a clear focus on improving learning outcomes, promoting inclusive education, and ensuring equitable access for all children.

Meet the New ExCom Members:

  • Mr. Prum Rithy, Senior Technical Specialist at World Vision – Chair

  • Mr. Chan Sok Ieng, Senior Program Manager at Room to Read – Vice-Chair

  • Mr. Srei Kosal, Executive Director of Partnership for Development in Kampuchea – Member

  • Mr. Yinsieng Someth, Education Program Manager at Aide et Action – Member

Serving as the Secretariat for the Working Group, Khieu Chetra, Executive Director of the NGO Education Partnership (NEP), will ensure seamless coordination and communication across all activities.

The Working Group on Primary Education is committed to supporting the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) in improving primary education policies and practices across Cambodia. Our mission is to promote educational equity and quality through focused strategies and initiatives that address the diverse needs of primary education.

Focus Areas and Work Plan

PE Working Group’s work plan for the coming months is designed to address key challenges in the primary education sector and drive impactful change. One of the primary focuses will be a research study on learning outcomes of Grade 3 students.

Key goals of this research include improving learning outcomes for Grade 3 students through evidence-based recommendations and strategies.

Objectives of the Study:

  • Identifying good governance practices in schools that positively influence student learning.

  • Exploring effective parent engagement in supporting children’s education.

  • Documenting best practices in teaching and learning that contribute to better student outcomes.

Through these efforts, the Working Group aims to contribute to the improvement of primary education in Cambodia, ensuring that all children receive the education they deserve to succeed.
