A workshop focused on Education in Emergencies (EiE) in South Asia and the Pacific, organized by the International Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) and ASPBAE brought together stakeholders from across the region to reflect on the challenges and progress in EiE, explore the dynamics of crises, and understand the role of data and evidence in improving education in crisis contexts.
The workshop began with Opening Remarks from Dr. Ehsanur Rahman, Executive Council (EC) Representative for South Asia (SR1) at ASPBAE and Executive Committee Member of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), who set the tone for the workshop.
The INEE’s Data and Evidence Team then introduced the Education in Emergencies (EiE) architecture, including the key processes, actors, and stakeholders involved. Participants will gain an understanding of INEE’s vision, strategic framework, and its core functions and ways of working within crisis-affected settings.
A series of conversation starter presentations explored the challenges and progress in EiE in South Asia and the Pacific. Speakers will reflect on the current state of EiE and provide insights into their unique regional contexts.
In the second part of the workshop, the workshop delved into the dimensions of conflict and crises, with a focus on understanding the evolving nature of the crisis landscape. Presenters shared the latest evidence and thinking on the dynamics of crises and how they impact EiE efforts.
To wrap up the session, the workshop explored the role of data and evidence in EiE. This presentation set the stage for day two of the workshop, providing participants with a deeper understanding of how data and evidence can inform EiE strategies and improve decision-making in times of crisis.
