APMED 6: Accelerating actions Transforming the what and How of Learning for a Sustainable Future

The 6th Asia-Pacific Meeting on Education 2030 (APMED 6),  was successfully organized which brought together over 200 experts from more than 30 countries. The dialogues and priority actions agreed upon during the three-day meeting will be crucial in accelerating progress toward SDG4 and advancing quality, inclusive, lifelong learning across the Asia-Pacific region.

Despite an increasing number of students in classrooms, many are still not experiencing meaningful learning. A polycrisis—comprising conflict, climate change, and the lingering impacts of COVID-19, including mental health challenges—continues to widen inequities and disrupt education, work, and everyday life. As we pass the halfway point of the Education 2030 agenda, APMED 6 became a pivotal moment to address these challenges, confront learning losses, assess progress, and reset priority actions at all levels.

Equity, inclusion, and gender equality must guide all efforts, empowering the most marginalized through their right to quality education, supported by sustainable financing. The aim is to ensure that transformative and harmonized approaches fulfill the purposes of education and achieve meaningful learning outcomes for all. The core focus of APMED 6 was to stimulate the acceleration of SDG4 implementation in the region and to contribute insights for the 2024 Global Education Meeting in Brazil.

Participants identified key recommendations and interconnected priorities to guide future actions.
