ASPBAE, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), and the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations hosted the 2024 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) side event titled “Advancing Climate Action through Education” on July 15, 2024, at the Baha’i International Community, UN Office in New York City.
The live-recorded highlighted the 2024 Civil Society Spotlight Reports on SDG 4, prepared by ASPBAE and its members from 12 countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, and Vanuatu), addressing the challenges and opportunities in building resilient and quality education systems that drive climate action. The event also examines the intersection of climate action and gender equality from the youth perspective.
Additionally, the discussion included concrete ways governments can protect education systems from climate change and how the Greening Education Partnership is developing tools and resources to support these member countries in advancing climate action.
