Reflecting on the Progress Review Meeting: Shaping the Future of Education

On March 12, 2026, the NGO Education Partnership (NEP) hosted a pivotal event at the Anik Palace Hotel in Phnom Penh: the Progress Review Meeting on the Implementation of Recommendations and Action Plans from the 7th National Conference on Education Transformation. The event, themed “Education Vision – Looking Toward Our Collective Future,” gathered an impressive 117 participants from diverse sectors, including the National Assembly, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), other relevant ministries, NEP member Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), development partners, the private sector, and provincial education working groups.

The meeting served as a platform for collaborative dialogue, where participants revisited key recommendations from the 7th National Conference. They engaged in thematic working groups to pinpoint priority actions for the year ahead. Topics of discussion spanned essential areas such as:

  • Children’s Rights and Education (Equity and Inclusion)

  • Education Financing

  • Quality of Education

  • Digital Education

The gathering was fruitful, marking significant strides in the implementation of these recommendations and setting clear priority actions for 2026. A notable outcome was the creation of a joint draft action plan, detailing timelines, expected achievements, resource needs, and coordination mechanisms. This plan aims to enhance collaboration and monitoring across ministries, CSOs, and development partners. The NEP Secretariat will further refine and finalize this draft in the coming weeks.

This meeting underscored the strong partnership between government bodies, civil society, and development partners, all united in the mission to advance quality, equitable, and inclusive education. Their collective efforts ensure that no child is left behind in the journey toward a brighter educational future.
