Salary: Up to $1000 per month plus benefits

This Life is an award-winning community development organisation that believes in listening to, engaging with and advocating alongside families and communities as they define and act on their own solutions to complex social issues. This Life currently operates programs under three sections: Children and Families, Communities, and Impact, Learning, and Effectiveness. These sections are supported by This Life’s Shared Services.

The Impact Learning & Effectiveness Section aims to translate community voices into new knowledge and evidence, which can then be used to help inform and develop innovative practice. The ILE Section is comprised of 3 service delivery teams:

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    Reporting to the Research & Policy Program Lead, the Senior Research Officer, will play a key role in delivering a range of research projects that This Life is committed to delivering. The research portfolio we are undertaking, is largely community based social research, both qualitative and quantitative, across a range of thematic areas, which include:

  • ●  Addiction
  • ●  Disability Children & Families
  • ●  Adoption & Foster Care
  • ●  Debt
    As a Senior Researcher, you will have support, autonomy and responsibility for the design and delivery of multiple research projects, including data collection, analysis and consultation with key local stakeholders as appropriate. You will take responsibility, own and deliver against a performance managed work plan.Key Responsibilities:

    As a Senior Researcher, you will have a range of key responsibilities, linked to, but not explicitly limited to:

  • ●  Orientate yourself with the nature of the research portfolio
  • ●  Identify methods and instruments for data collection
  • ●  Work in partnership, as appropriate, with key community stakeholders
  • ●  Collect data scientifically
  • ●  Analyse data
  • ●  Present data as part of a research report
  • ●  Produce research reports in English, using simple English language, to a high and accurate standard.
  • ●  Distribute research findings to an agreed audience
  • ●  Defend the research as appropriate
  • ●  Design for production, relevant research related infographics for use within social media and marketing purposes.
  • ●  Manage a research budget and ensure that key responsibilities and deliverables are in line with a research budget.
  • ●  Assist and support Research & Policy Program Lead as appropriate.
  • ●  Provide research related training, coaching and guidance to Project Officers as appropriate.This position may also require additional tasks at the request of This Life Senior Management.

    Role Requirements:

    Essential

  • ●  Master’s Degree, equivalent in a relevant social science related field, from a recognised University or tertiary institution
  • ●  Demonstrable experience conducting and producing research and research reports in a similar or comparable capacity
  • ●  Demonstrable experience of qualitative and/or qualitative research design, data collection, analysis and report writing
  • ●  Experience and/or appreciation of working in a community development context, valuing rights and empowerment those exposed to inequalities and multiple disadvantages.
  • ●  Confident Khmer and English language skills, speaking, writing, listening
  • ●  Ability to work autonomously, with minimal support
  • ●  Experience of working with Khmer stakeholders including local authorities, NGOs and community members.
  • ●  Experience in producing reports.
  • ●  Experience or appreciation of working in an international organization within donor funded programs
  • ●  Ability to self-manage workloads, manage time and deliver quality outcomes as plannedDesirable:
  • ●  Knowledge in and experience of using statistical software platforms, especially Advance Excel, SPSS and the likes
  • ●  Knowledge in and experience of using qualitative data analysis software such as NVivo, MAXQDA and the likes.
  • ●  Experience of working with and mobilising community members and leaders
  • ●  Ability and willingness to travel between provincial areas and spend time in the fieldPersonal & Functional Skills
  • ●  Capability to operate within Google G Suite
  • ●  Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite
  • ●  Ability to use initiative and solve problems with practical outcomes
  • ●  Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • ●  Strong planning, time management and organizational skills
  • ●  Flexible and able to function within a dynamic work environment, re-adjusting and re-prioritizing tasks when

needed.

  • ●  Capability to work from home alone or in the team environment as appropriate
  • ●  Strong presentation skills
  • ●  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the demonstration of sensitivity to, and appreciation ofdiverse viewpoints and different communications styles in a multicultural environment
