Inclusive Education

Inclusive Education aims to include all marginalized and vulnerable children into schools or learning centers regardless of their diversities in order to form an inclusive society. Achieving Inclusive Education is also mentioned as one of Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, which is Goal 4 to aim to “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”.

WGED SSWG  provides a platform for CSOs working in Inclusive Education Sub-Sector  to share the experiences, draw lessons learnt.

On December 8, 2015, it was agreed by the 6 partners that a Working Group should be formed under the auspices of the NEP. National Forum on Inclusive Education (NFIE) has been organized originally by 3 non-governmental organizations, Krousar Thmey, Catholic Relief Services, and Handicap International with the support of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS). The 4th National Forum included AAR Japan and Aide et Action along with the 3 original organizers of the NFIE.

Members of the NEP who work in Inclusive Education or are interested in mainstreaming education for CwDs within their education programs will be invited to join this working group. More importantly, Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs) representing people with different types of impairments will also be invited to become active members of the working group.

Besides organizing NFIE annually, this working group has been collecting the voices of civil society and produced Civil Society Organization Position Statement to promote rights of learners living with disabilities..

WGED, coordinated by NEP, aims to build strong communications channels  with the Special Education Department, National Institute of Special Education, and Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MoEYS), to provide valuable input on the situation of the children and youth benefiting from access to special education.
