The government of Cambodia is taking the initiative to create a disability identification database in Cambodia called “The Sub-decree on Disability Identification by Social Model and Basic Rights”
The sub-decree aims to make it easier for people with disabilities to access social protection systems and services. It’s impressive that there will be a comprehensive system in place that includes the identification of the severity of a person’s disability, which can aid in policy-making and intervention initiatives.
The fact that the system contains a mechanism to manage data for disabled people throughout the country is a positive development. It’s also reassuring to know that there are measures in place to penalize anyone who falsifies disability identification or the disability identification database.
All in all, this sub-decree is a step in the right direction toward ensuring that everyone in Cambodia has equal access to the necessary support and resources to thrive.
