IIEP Strategic Debate 2: Leveraging Evidence in Situational Analysis to Advance Policies

IIEP has been launching a new series of four Strategic Debates focused on evidence-informed policy and planning, covering everything from design to implementation. The second IIEP Strategic Debate, which will focus on using evidence in situational analysis to advance policies, is happening soon on July 11, 2024.

Once an issue reaches the policy agenda, a situational analysis is necessary to understand its conditions and context. For instance, when a country focuses on foundational literacy, this analysis would involve evaluating the current state of literacy, teaching methods, educational resources, and existing barriers. This can be achieved by mapping, collecting, and analyzing evidence such as large-scale national assessment data, information on teacher training and qualifications, research study results, and stakeholder perspectives, including those of teachers, youth, and marginalized populations. This Strategic Debate will explore strategies for leveraging evidence to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issue at hand.
