According to the most recent projections conducted by the Teacher Task Force and UNESCO and released to coincide with World Teachers’ Day, Sub-Saharan Africa alone needs to recruit 16.5 million more teachers in order to meet education targets by 2030. This means that 5.4 million new primary teachers and 11.1 million secondary teachers are required to satisfy the needs of the region’s expanding school-age population and reduce the number of out-of-school children.
