On October 30, 2023, representatives from the NGO Education Partnership (NEP) and the Working Group on Education and Disability (WGED) visited the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS). The visit was welcomed by H.E. Serei Chumneas, a Secretary of State of the MoEYS, and officials of the Special Education Department.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen mutual collaboration between the ministry and NGO partners through joint efforts and sharing a common understanding of the priorities for improving the education of people with disabilities.
The MoEYS expressed its appreciation for the support of NEP and WGED in improving the education of people with disabilities. The ministry also highlighted its commitment to working with NGO partners to ensure that all children in Cambodia have access to a quality education, regardless of their ability.
The NEP and WGED delegation expressed their readiness to continue working with the MoEYS to improve the education of people with disabilities in Cambodia. The delegation also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, NGOs, and other stakeholders in achieving this goal.
The visit was a positive step in strengthening the relationship between the MoEYS and NGO partners, and in advancing the cause of inclusive education in Cambodia.
