On October 19, 2023, the Primary Education Working Group (PE) held its third quarterly meeting to discuss and update its members on the new education policies and guidelines set by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport. The meeting also provided an opportunity for members to share their best practices, experiences, and challenges in implementing these new policies and guidelines.
One of the key takeaways from the meeting was that most PE member organizations are working closely to build teachers’ capacity in mathematics and reading. This is a critical area of focus, as strong literacy and numeracy skills are essential for success in all other areas of the curriculum.
The meeting also highlighted the need for a joint monitoring system to track the progress of PE member organizations in collaborating with relevant Provincial Offices of Education, Youth, and Sport (PoE)/District Offices of Education, Youth, and Sport (DoE), NGOs, and other stakeholders. This would help to ensure that all students have access to high-quality primary education, regardless of their background or location.
Overall, the 3rd quarterly meeting of the PE was a productive and informative event. It provided members with an opportunity to learn about the latest education policies and guidelines, share their best practices, and identify areas for collaboration. The meeting also highlighted the need for a joint monitoring system to track the progress of PE member organizations in implementing the new education policies and guidelines.
The PE will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport to implement the new education policies and guidelines. The group will also develop a joint monitoring system to track its progress in collaborating with other stakeholders.
The PE encourages all stakeholders to work together to ensure that all students have access to high-quality primary education. This can be done by supporting PE member organizations in their efforts to build teachers’ capacity and collaborate with other stakeholders.
