On Friday, October 27, 2023, Open Development Cambodia Organization (ODC) will launch its project “Digital Educational Resources in Indigenous Languages for Primary School Students” in Kampong Cham City, Kampong Cham province.
The project is implemented with financial support from the Swedish Program for ICT in Developing Regions (SPIDER) and in collaboration with the Special Education Department (SED) of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MOEYS).
The project aims to address the language barriers faced by indigenous primary school students in Cambodia through educational videos in five indigenous languages: Khmer, Cham, Kuy, Tampuan, and Jarai. These videos cover rural areas in six provinces: Kampong Cham, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, Kratie, Stung Treng, and Kampot.
The launching workshop was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the Swedish Embassy, and other development partners. The workshop featured presentations on the project’s goals and objectives, as well as demonstrations of the educational videos.
The project aims to address the language barriers faced by indigenous primary school students in Cambodia. By providing access to high-quality educational resources in their own languages, ODC hopes to improve the learning outcomes of these students and help them to succeed in school.
The project’s target audience is indigenous primary school students in Cambodia. However, the educational videos can also be used by teachers, parents, and other community members who are interested in learning about indigenous languages and cultures.
The educational videos cover a wide range of topics, including math, science, social studies, and language arts. The videos are designed to be engaging and informative, and they are aligned with the Cambodian national curriculum.
The educational videos are available for free download on ODC’s website and YouTube channel.
The project is expected to have a positive impact on the learning outcomes of indigenous primary school students in Cambodia. By providing access to high-quality educational resources in their own languages, ODC can help these students to learn more effectively and to succeed in school.
We encourage you to visit ODC’s website or YouTube channel to download the educational videos and share them with others. You can also support the project by making a donation to ODC.
