The Political Declaration of the SDG Summit is a document that will be negotiated and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in September 2023. The declaration will cover the different and complementary functions of both sessions of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF): the Summit and the forum.
The declaration will be negotiated during the 77th session of the General Assembly and will be adopted at the HLPF. The declaration will provide guidance on how to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
The HLPF is the main global platform for follow-up and review of the SDGs. It meets annually to assess progress towards the SDGs and to identify and address challenges to implementation. The HLPF is also a forum for sharing best practices and lessons learned.
The Political Declaration of the SDG Summit will be an important document for the global community. It will provide a renewed commitment to the SDGs and will outline the steps needed to accelerate progress towards achieving them by 2030.
