NEP is working to improve access to education for the most marginalized and to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic. The coalition aims to help bridge the gap between national policies and grassroots implementation.
The need for more effective coordination, capacity support and learning exchanges or collaboratives within civil society, and communication channels to the Government and other stakeholders to promote more inclusive monitoring and review of Cambodian education policies, budgets, and programs to ensure that they meet the needs of marginalized groups. The COVID-19 outbreak has set back education in Cambodia and widened existing gaps such as the lower access and lower quality of education provision for the poorest and most marginalized. The pandemic highlighted the extent of the problem of the digital divide, the lack of readiness of teachers and the government at all levels, and other stakeholders to be able to continue to provide education for its people in the event of such an emergency.

At the global front, the agenda 2030 is the roadmap. In Cambodia, the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of the agenda 2030 is certainly important to take into account. SDGs and specifically SDG 4 is one of Cambodia’s national commitments to strengthen the quality education in order to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
