Teach For Cambodia Partners with Maths Pathway on Future of Education Initiative
On 10 June 2022, Teach For Cambodia hosted a Community Event to formalize a partnership with Maths Pathway to bring a new model of teaching and learning to Cambodian public schools, highlighting a path forward to transform education.
In attendance were our esteemed board members, Larry Strange, Senior Counsel with SXH Law; Dr. Bo Chankoulika, Director of the Department of Policy at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports; Bun Youdy, Managing Partner at Bun & Associates; and David Sok Dara Marshall, Chief Financial Officer at ISI Group, a partner and champion of Teach For Cambodia. MoEYS representatives, school directors, fellows, alumni, and others from the Teach For Cambodia community as well as friends and colleagues from Teach For All, Teach For Malaysia and Teach For Vietnam were present.
The event commenced with Teach For Cambodia’s Founder and CEO, Monirath Siv, underscoring the adversities and learning loss that children in Cambodia have been subjected to in the face of the pandemic and stressed on the resilience exhibited by the entire education community, especially Teach For Cambodia Fellows, teachers and school directors who were the front liners during these uncertain times, consistent in their commitment to ensuring that none of their students were left behind.
The Maths Pathway program is customized for each student on the basis of their current maths knowledge. To date, their teaching and learning model has yielded learning outcomes quantifiably 2-3 times more successful than traditional maths teaching in Australia.
They further emphasized how this partnership with Teach for Cambodia is their first international partnership and how together, they aim to raise student outcomes and reduce teacher burnout in Cambodia.
