Cambodia is investing in training for early childhood educators

The Strengthening Teacher Education Programme in Cambodia (STEPCam), a three-year initiative launched by UNESCO and funded in part by the Global Partnership for Education, will focus on building capacity in early childhood education. The Ministry of Education plans to roll out STEPCam nationwide in coming years.

Some 130,000 children are expected to benefit from this program and will receive learning materials, including Khmer language textbooks to practice reading and writing. More than 4,000 teachers and 3,000 education officials will receive training, mentoring and technical support.
